Korean pop idol Kim Hyun-joong won three awards at the 2009 Yahoo! Buzz Awards held in Hong Kong on December 14.

Kim, leader of popular idol group SS501, was voted Asia Top Buzz Male Artist, Top Buzz KR (Korean) Artist by Taiwanese netizens and Top Buzz KR Artist by Korean netizens. His group SS501 was also awarded Asia Top Buzz Group at the event.

The Yahoo! Buzz Awards, into its sixth year, selects winners based on the "buzz", or number of searches, a star has received on Internet portal site Yahoo!.

Kim prepared his acceptance speech in Korean, Chinese and English, saying “I would like to thank all the fans in Korea, Taiwan and Hong Kong who have given me so much support, and I will work even harder in the future.”

Popular Taiwanese actor Joseph Cheng reportedly showed up and mingled with SS501 at the event.

The five-member boy band debuted in 2005 with single "Warning" and have been active in Korea and Japan, releasing numerous albums both as a group and also pursuing individual careers such as acting and appearing in variety shows.

The group made a successful comeback to the music scene in October, topping various music charts with their second mini-album "REBIRTH".
