Yes thats right, Korean Pop is a big hit in the Philippines and it is not going to die down anytime soon.

Kpop first made it big in the Philippines when news of 2ne1's Sandara Park debuting and making it big in Korea was spread all over the country, thats when the craze started. First it was 2ne1 and Big Bang's Lollipop, even non kpop fans are hooked with the song also being a hot ringtone and more or less everyone knows that song especially Wonder Girl's Nobody.

There were countless hits from kpop idols. Wonder Girls Nobody, 2ne1's Fire and I dont care, Super Junior's Sorry Sorry and Sorry Sorry answer, SNSD's oh! and gee, U-Kiss binguel binguel, FT island's I Hope, 4minutes Muzik, and many more. Ever since the craze started a year ago it still has no signs of dying down.

The kpop fan population in the country gets larger by the second, fan clubs, kpop conventions and then the album's of kpop stars starts to come in. That's when it became big. SHINee came in and performed for the kpop convention, 4minute entered to have an album promotion, U-kiss followed, FT Island held a concert, Super Junior's last stop on their asian tour, now U-kiss is planning on a comeback concert and negotiations for 2ne1, big bang and wonder girls concert are in the works.

Right now, On the daily top 10 of myx, 3 kpop idols take on the top spots in the top 5. SNSD with Run Devil Run takes the 5th spot followed by 2ne1 with try to follow me at number 4 and U-kiss with binguel bingeul in the second spot.

Although they may be issues concerning kpop fandom in the country, kpop fans all over the islands stay strong and united to protect and continue supporting their idols. Now the whole country knows about kpop and everyone knows its a huge hit. Despite the close minded comments of some writers and public icons, kpop fans still stand strong on their fandom.

Not everyone can understand the true essence of kpop and some may say things even without knowing how "kpop" works and the way it rolls. The language barrier is no barrier, overseas fans of kpop like kpop more than just the language but the music and entertainment and even more than that which it brings.

I am a filipino and all I'm trying to reach out to fellow filipino kpop fans that we should not let a negative article get to us or a close minded comment about kpop get the best of us. It is simply because they do not know and understand what kpop is and just mere ignorant of it.

I also would like to give some advice to the filipino kpop fans. I know right now there are people especially writers and public figures who comments and writes about our kpop idols that we do not like but let us not make a big deal of it and protect the kpop idols by ignoring such comments. Heated arguments will just worsen the situation and it would be better if its ignored and be put to the past. I would like to reach out to all the filipino kpop fans out there to think and just ignore it, it is the best thing we can do.

Please, let the u-kiss incident not happen again. We want to protect them and the best way is to ignore those comments because sometimes those comments just want attention and more fame.

sincerely yours,

--------------CLARIFICATION:

About the popularity thing... I just want to clarify that it wasnt the START of kpop's popularity in the Philippines because of 2ne1's debut, more like KPOP STARTED TO BECOME HUGE AND POPULAR by that time because "A LOT OF PEOPLE NOTICED KPOP BECAUSE OF SANDARA PARK'S FAME IN KOREA" because fans here in the Phil are still waiting for her.

I myself did not know about KPOP before it was in the news about 2ne1's sandara park making it big.

But THAT IS NOT THE POINT OF THIS ARTICLE... my point is how we should react towards some of the media's NEGATIVITY towards kpop's fame in the country. THANK YOU
