Figure skating queen Kim Yu-na and diving champion Sammy Lee were honored as Koreans whose globally recognized achievement made their country proud in Los Angeles on Saturday.

The award is given by the Korean American Leadership Foundation to two Koreans annually who have inspired the Korean community there. Lee won in recognition of his 1948 and 1952 Olympic gold medals in diving, overcoming the barrier of racial discrimination. Kim is the 2010 Olympic figure skating champion.
