The largest and most popular music festival in Asia, "Let's Go G20 Concert, 2010 Asia Song Festival," will open its stage at the Jamsil Olympic Main Stadium on October 23 (Sat.) at 17:00.
The 7th Asia Song Festival, jointly hosted by the Korea Foundation for International Culture Exchange (KOFICE), Seoul City and UNICEF, will take place as Asia¡'s exclusive international charity music festival titled, "Let's Go G20 Concert" in celebration of the G20 Seoul Summit. Top stars from Asia will gather together on one stage and deliver melodies of hope to the world. This year, 12 teams from 6 Asian nations will participate in the Festival and present an impressive stage of harmony.
This year, major Korean broadcasters as well as NHK and Nihon TV from Japan, CCTV from China, TVB from Hong Kong, AZIO and GTV from Taiwan and CH9 from Thailand have shown interest in the Festival. This year's Asia Song Festival is expected to record the largest scale of coverage to date.
In the upcoming Let's Go G20 Concert, 2010 Asia Song Festival, Seung Chul Lee, the "King of Live Performances" will be on the stage. Celebrating his 25th anniversary as a singer this year, Seung Chul Lee will put on a spectacular live performance filled with charisma for the Festival's audience.
Meanwhile, Asia's biggest star BoA and world star Rain plan to present a stage of spectacular dancing and singing while the ballad group 2AM plans to heighten the emotional atmosphere of the event with heartfelt ballads.
Furthermore, Asian stars Joe Cheng representing Taiwan, Jane Zhang representing China and Michael Wong representing Malaysia will each give a performance that is as full of talents and originality as the performances of Korean singers.
However, the largest issue of this year's Festival is the girl group stage of AKB48 representing Japan and KARA representing Korea. Their performances have been the center of attention of the fans and the press ever since the lineup was announced. Furthermore, Bie the Star, also known as Thailand's Rain, will leave a strong impression on Asian fans with his talents, performance and his own unique color.
For the finale, all artists will come on the stage and sing the "Let's Go" campaign song that prays for the success of the G20 Summit, the largest international event since Dangun.
The organization committee for the G20 Summit found that the G20 Summit's motto "coexistence beyond crisis" and the 2010 Asia Song Festival's objective "to share love" complement each other and it plans to cooperate actively in fund raising through various events. This year's Festival is more significant in that it has joined hands with UNICEF to raise funds and help thousands of children suffering from the worst floods ever in Pakistan. Like the previous Festivals, this year's Festival will feature top artists from across Asia and attract the largest number of spectators from overseas.
The first (October 7), second and third (October 12) ticket downloading services for foreigners ended in 30 minutes. The 2010 Asia Song Festival has already shown that it has a pivotal role in heightening the reputation of Korea as a global economic power and the first Asian nation to host the G20 Summit.
"This year's Asia Song Festival will be a more meaningful event as it will celebrate the G20 Summit," said KOFICE Chairperson Young-hoon Kim. "We will develop the Asia Song Festival into a major cultural exchange event among Asian countries and create a cultural solidarity in Asia and deliver hopes to neglected groups through music."
Artists
Representing Korea are 2AM, Rain, 4minute, Beast, BoA, Lee Seung Chul, Kara while Japan's representative is the all-girl group AKB48. Bie The Star will also be present for Thailand, Jane Zhane for China, Joe Cheng for Taiwan and Michael Wong for Malaysia.
