Praised by senior singer Choi Baek Ho, Shin Yong Jae of 4Men couldn’t be happier these days.
Shin participated in the recording for KBS2’s Immortal Song 2 at KBS’ Open Hall in Seoul on November 21.
The week’s mission was to perform a song by Choi Baek Ho, and Shin as well as fellow performers K. will, Huh Gak, Davichi’s Lee Hae Ri and SG Wannabe’s Lee Seok Hoon took to the stage. The singers expressed their desire to perform well-known songs like About Romance and Youngilman Friend but were assigned songs based on a lottery.
Shin was assigned 1989 song Yes, and compared to About Romance, it is a relatively unknown song. For this reason, Choi, who came to the rehearsal prior to the recording, told producers, “Not only is it difficult to sing, it’s not a well-known song, so I worried a lot about how the junior singer would sing it.”
And Park watched from the side as Shin rehearsed the song on stage. Following the rehearsal, Choi approached Shin, who was headed for the waiting room, and praised the performance saying, “I was really worried about this song, but I’m shocked because you sang it so well.” He added, “It’s a difficult song, but you digested it well.”
Immediately following the praise, Shin said in an interview with enews, “It’s rare for a legendary senior singer to even come to the rehearsal before the recording, so I was so thankful that he complimented me like this. I thought, ‘I need to sing it even better.’”
Shin continued, “I’m ecstatic because such a great senior complimented me.” He added with a smile, “I think I’ll be able to sing it better during the recording.”
