There has been much speculation surrounding the identity of her boyfriend, and photos of her with a mystery man surfaced online. To clear things up, Sunye has updated fans with more information about her boyfriend, revealing that he is a missionary.

On November 25th, Sunye personally addresses the speculations through the Wonder Girls' official fan cafe. She wrote, "A few months ago, I went on a mission trip to Haiti. I had always dreamed of going on one, and I think I was really nervous and had high expectations going to Haiti for my first mission trip." She continued, "That’s how I met that person, in the most unlikeliest of places. He is a missionary who was living with the Haitian people and doing missions work."

Sunye further confirmed that the photo strangely floating around the internet was indeed her boyfriend and was taken on her last night in Haiti. She remarked, "I have no desire to be dishonest, I had no idea that my surprising story would garner this much interest after it was revealed or that the photo would surface so quickly. You all are truly fast."

She then thanked her fans for the positive feedbacks and said, "Still, I’m really happy and thankful that there are so many people who are congratulating me.
