2011.12.08
30 minutes before the launching, SHINee's secret Christmas event got cancelled by Japan's police.
SHInee is supposed to hold a surprise event for Japanese fans for their successful release of "The First" on December 7 at Tokyo’s Shibuya area. However, because there was no notice given about the event, police requested to cancel the event due to the influx of many fans that might cause accidents.
There was an ad stating"Find the missing 5 Santas, name starts with S"at the JR Shibuya Station.
Therefore, the group left no choice but to end the event and look for alternative place. Key expressed disappointment, "It's a shame we weren't able to meet everyone,". Jonghyun added, "We will repay the fans on our fan event on 24th."
@the5santa on twitter also apologized, "We want to surprise the fans by celebrating the release of SHInee's album and their new songs. However we must cancel the event for the safety of everyone, since they are so many people. We are sorry.."
