On January 10th, Y Tree Media stated that the movie's producer ShinCine COmmunication and drama producer Lemon Rain have collaborated to create a TV adaptation of the movie.
"My Sassy Girl", which features Cha Tae Hyun and Jun Ji Hyun and directed by Kwak Jaeyong, is a quirky romantic comedy that hit theaters over a decade ago. It has been a huge success and became an icon for Korean culture. Since its release, other Asian countries such as Japan and China have made their own versions of the movie.
For the Korean TV adaptation, Lemon Rain will host a script contest which is open to both rookie writers and established writers. The contest will seek the best scripts from February 1 to March 30.
The winner of the contest will receive 10,000,000 won (around $10,000) and will enter into an exclusive contract with Lemon Rain and shoot the series based on own script in the second half of the year.
A representative stated, "We'll look forward to discovering refreshing ideas and fun in-depth stories for the TV drama that we hope will surpass the success of the movie".
