2012.02.19
The definition of a celebrity has been changed forever as Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and the social web has provided a giant red carpet for the biggest names around the globe to impress fans, give inside looks at their lives and grow followings into the tens of millions.
The #Celebrity of the Year Shorty Award, created in partnership with BIO, will be awarded to a celebrity whose creative Twitter bio, presence on social media and genuine sharing has helped them tell truer stories about their life and effect on pop culture.
The winner will be selected based upon the number of nominations they’ve received, the creativity of their Twitter bio, the impact and creativity of their tweets, and the level of innovation in their use of social media as judged by the Real-Time Academy.
Voting is now closed. Over the next few days we will be auditing the submitted votes. The Shorty Award finalists and Shorty Vox Populi winners will be announced next week.
