‘Second Top Award to Foreign Singer Following Michael Jackson’
The DVD “First Impact” released by singer Kim Hyun-joong on May 16 sold 16,000 copies in its first week of release, ranking No. 1 in the comprehensive DVD category of the Oricon chart. This DVD contains the images Kim Hyun Joong showed during his Japan tour in eight cities last November and his performance at the Arena in Yokohama last February.
Since Michael Jackson’s music DVD “Vision” released in November, 2010 reached the No. 1 Oricon rank -- a first for a foreign solo singer -- Kim Hyun Joong became the second foreign soloist to achieve the top rank one year and five months after Michael Jackson. He acquired the Oricon No. 1 spot for the first time as a Korean artist.
Kim Hyun Joong plans to reveal his second single music DVD “Heat” on July 4. This second DVD has already become popular as it was written and composed by Japanese national musician B’z. On July 15, he will hold a special event by inviting 32,000 Japanese fans who bought his DVD to Saitama Super Arena. He will also release his official collection book “있는 그대로도 (As It Is)” displaying all his talents on July 18.
