It has been revealed that the SBS TV drama ‘Protect the Boss’, that star JYJ’s Kim Jaejoong, is experiencing explosive popularity in Japan.
‘Protect the Boss’, which aired in Korea last summer, began airing in Japan from the 12th of July through Japan’s biggest privately managed broadcasting company TBS. The drama became a hot topic when it was introduced on Hallyu channels KNTV and DATV as it finished airing in Korea.
One day since pre-orders began for the special making DVD for ‘Protect the Boss’, which is set to be released on the 28th of November, it topped charts on HMV Japan, Amazon, and Rakuten, proving the drama’s popularity in Japan.
The reason why the DVD is so popular is because it features Korean narration by Kim Jaejoong.
The upcoming DVD will contain 180 to 240 minutes of footage that includes scenes of Kim Jaejoong running through lines for his role, the making videos of the drama’s main scenes that are introduced by Kim Jaejoong, behind the scenes footage, a special video of Kim Jaejoong, as well as a compilation of Kim Jaejoong singing and acting.
Netizens who heard the news left comments such as, “Kim Jaejoong’s popularity is amazing”, “I’m curious to see what the Kim Jaejoong Special DVD will be like. I want to buy it!”, “We want the DVD to be released in Korea as well! I’m jealous of the Japanese fans,” and “I’m going to go pre-order it right now. Hwaiting to the DVD and Kim Jaejoong!”
