One of the most notable celebrity couples in Korea has decided to call it quits after 10 years.

The star couple Gong Hyo Jin and Ryu Seung Bum confirmed through their agency, Soop Entertainment, that the two individuals had broken up. They’ve decided to remain just friends, and an official statement with the details has been released.

“We dated for 10 years, so in many ways it was time for it to end,” Gong Hyo Jin said. She also denied the rumor that she was involved with her co-star Ha Jung-woo from “Love Fiction.”

“It’s so frustrating that people assume that I’m seeing Jung Woo. Really, if you need a reason, it’s because I just wanted to take some time off from being in a relationship.”

The two had met in 2001 after filming “Splendid Days”. They’ve had an on and off relationship for the past 10 years. Currently, Gong Hyo Jin is preparing for a documentary film release, “577 Project”, while Ryu Seung Bum is filming his new movie “In Berlin”.
