MBC to produce ‘Jewel in the Palace’ sequel next year

MBC has announced that they will produce a sequel to the smash-hit drama, ‘Dae Jang Geum’ (Jewel In the Palace).
On September 17, MBC released a special press release revealing that MBC’s head Kim Jae Chul visited China on September 11 and stayed there for four nights and five days to discuss producing ‘Jewel in the Palace 2’ with the Chinese Hunan Broadcasting System.
The Chinese broadcasting system Hunan TV, which aired ‘Jewel in the Palace’ in 2005, has agreed to invest in and later air the sequel.
‘Jewel in the Palace’ achieved a domestic rating of 80% and has also received a lot of popularity in various places in Asia like China, Japan, Taiwan as well as other countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.
