Psy’s “Gangnam Style” still No. 2 in Billboard Hot 100
2012.10.18
Psy’s “Gangnam Style” remained mired in the No. 2 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 this week, seemingly unable to surmount Maroon 5’s “One More Night,” which has held the top spot for the last five weeks.
According to Billboard, “Gangnam Style” gains slightly more in audience this week than “One More Night” (6.7 million vs. 6.4 million, according to Nielsen BDS), but the latter song remains atop the Hot 100 largely thanks to its wide lead in radio airplay.
Still, this is a record-breaking success for a Korean artist and it seems only a matter of time for the galloping star to recharge his popularity in the United States.
Meanwhile, Psy will leave for Los Angeles on October 19 to resume promoting his song in the U.S. in a bid to drive it to the top of the charts and build demand for his next album.
