People often don't appreciate what they have until they've lost it, and the same thing goes for your health.
When you're young and healthy, it's easy tend to forget the importance of practicing a healthy lifestyle which includes things like eating healthy, exercising and getting enough rest. But once the body eventually does show signs of aging, it might be already too late to completely reverse the damage that's been done.
So consider this post as your wakeup call. Here are the things about your body that you should really start giving a damn about NOW before it's too late:
1. Your skin How you abuse it: Not staying out of the sun or drinking enough water. The consequences: Looking 10 years older than your actual age.
2. Your liver How you abuse it: Drowning it with alcohol. The consequences: Liver cancer.
3. Your hair How you abuse it: Loading up on hair products. The consequences: Unless they find a way to regrow hair, and you are cool with the bald look, start now.
4. Your waistline How you abuse it: Stuffing your face with everything that's available. The consequences: Having to constantly update your wardrobe to adapt to your changing shape. Also, heart attacks!
5. Your teeth How you abuse it: Not brushing, flossing, or visiting the dentist every 6 months. The consequences: Not being able to smile because you're embarrassed about your teeth... and you left your dentures at home.
6. Your feet How you abuse it: Wearing stylish-but- uncomfortable shoes that don't provide adequate support. The consequences: Poor posture, which has been linked to all sorts of health problems.
7. Your back How you abuse it: Not sitting upright or exercising more often. The consequences: Chronic back pain which can be the bane of your existence throughout the rest of your life.
8. Your cholesterol level How you abuse it: Not eating right and not exercising enough. The consequences: There's a reason why heart disease remains the number 1 killer in the world. Don't end up being part of that statistic.
9. Your eyesight How you abuse it: Staring too long at screens on your gadgets without taking any breaks. The consequences: Cataract surgery, which involves burning a hole in your eye AND your wallet.
10. Your sleep How you abuse it: Partying all night long or binge watching your favourite shows until 4am. The consequences: Just like time, there's no way to make up for lost sleep. Being constantly exhausted affects judgment, decisions and overall work performance, which can result in making some pretty poor choices in your life.
Making a positive impression at work is getting more important. This is partly because you don't actually go to work as often anymore thanks to hybrid working. So the impression you give in shorter stretches of time travels a lot further.
