New Text-To-Video Patent Sounds Awesome, Will Probably Never Happen

This "Autogenerating Video From Text" patent comes from Bill Gates and Nathan Myhrvold, and describes a system for taking images of text and translating them into animated video. Sounds cool right? Too bad it's probably nothing but trolling.
The patent also lists eight other names, implying that the idea actually comes from the patent-hoarding and licensing legal house cofounded by Myhrvold called Intellectual Ventures.
This leads some critics to believe that the tech is just vaporware that exists on paper as a way for Intellectual Ventures to file lawsuits should someone actually do decide to bring this tech to life. Ingenious or evil?
