It's not that hard inserting an IV, but finding a vein through trial and error can mean pain for a patient. So the researchers at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem created a handheld robotic device using infrared and electrical sensors to precisely pinpoint the location of a vein to painlessly insert an IV.
Called SAGIV, it uses an infrared camera and other sensors to find a vein. It then inserts and removes a needle in one quick motion. Goodbye multiple tries.
