According to new research, men who eat tons of veggies had a significantly reduced sperm count. On the other hand, dudes who drank a pint a day had a better chance of boosting conception.

The four-year research found that only a third of sperm in vegetarians or vegans was found to be active.

Meat eaters on the other hand had almost double the amount.

Men who consumed an average of 2.7 alcohol units a day had more chance in boosting conception.

That's double of those who didn't drink or drank less.

The reason for it could be that alcohol tempers stress levels, thus reducing the pressure during sex for those consciously trying for a child.

Dr. Allan Pacey believes that moderate social drinking can benefit couples trying to conceive.

In other related research, drinking coffee was linked to reduce birth rates for those consuming two cups per day.

Of course, this doesn't mean you should avoid eating vegetables, as it does have an overall benefit to health.

And this doesn't mean you should clock out at 5.30 everyday and head straight to the pub.

Bottomline: live a healthy life and consume alcohol in moderate amounts within guidelines.
