Making a Hollywood hit movie is actually more formulaic than you think. And it's pretty simple too. All you need is to follow these steps and you're done. The rest of it is just marketing. Check it out below:

Step 1

Every hero needs to have his or her journey start in an ordinary place to have their adventure seem extraordinary.

Step 2

Step 2 is the hero receiving a call for adventure but not really being into it.

Step 3

The hero answers the call. This usually involves a little nudging. In The Hunger Games Katniss volunteers (nudge nudge) to save her sister.

Step 4

What is a young journeyman to do without an older and wiser instructor.

Step 5

Once the hero is on the journey they need to reach a place of no return. They were only ever half in from the start so the audience must know they are committed now.

Step 6

The hero needs to be tested to make allies and enemies.

Step 7

The hero enters the “inmost cave” a great challenge in enemy territory. It rededicates them to their original mission.

Step 8

The supreme battle! Cool sounding, yeah? It’s the great ending, the big finish!

Step 9

Now that the hero has accomplished their goal they relish in their own success.

Step 10

Now that the hero has completed their journey they must decide what comes next.

Step 11

The resurrection is not literal. It’s the realization that the hero is a new person, one unlike who they were before. They’ve changed.

Step 12

The hero returns home but nothing is really the same there anymore. The hero knows nothing in their life will really ever be the same.
