When you're drunk, you talk funny. Slur even. Linguist Dean Frenkel has a theory that the Australian dialect originated from drunken slurs. He believes that it was created under the influence of alcohol.
“Our forefathers regularly got drunk together and through their frequent interactions unknowingly added an alcoholic slur to our national speech patterns.”
