Old news is good news! Crumpled up newsprint is an effective odor-eater, and once it has done the job you can still toss it in the recycling bin, or use it to clean your windows: Newspaper + vinegar spritz = streak free shine.
It deodorizes any enclosed space too, and not just drawers. So if your fridge is starting to smell funky, you can crumple up some newspapers, spritz them with water, and throw them in your fridge to clear up the smell.
