Hiking is one of the best ways to stay stress-free and have a good time with friends and family. Even if you're going out hiking alone, it can be a great way to connect with nature. Whether you want to move away from your house or somewhere close by, there are several places where you can go hiking.

If you want to know what you should bring on a hike day, you need to determine your plan and how far the place is. The weather will also have an important role. If the weather is harsh and the place is too far, you will need to carry more hiking gear, food, and clothing. But, if you're going hiking only for a day, you won't need to carry many things.

If you are a beginner and have no idea what you should be carrying, here's a list of things you should get for hiking.

Hiking Gear
Your backpack is an essential hiking gear that should accompany you. If you are going on a short, simple hike, your backpack should have a capacity of 11-20 liters. But if you are setting out a long hike, you need to carry a bigger backpack to carry water, clothing, and food.

Clothing and Footwear
Always make sure to carry a dress as per the weather. Never set out on a hike if you aren't prepared. It is better if you pack extra clothes that you need during the trip. Also, protection against ultraviolet rays is one of the main things to consider. For hiking, you should carry footwear for the terrains. If the hike is smooth, you can wear normal hiking shoes or trail runners. But, if you're setting out on a rocky trek, make sure to carry rugged tails and boots.

Navigation
Navigation is an essential item you should carry. You can either carry a watch for mountain biking, a compass, or a map. However, what type of navigation you bring to your trip completely depends on your personal preference and the type of trip you will be taking. Your personal preferences will have an important role in determining what items you'll be carrying.

Food and water
Never miss out on carrying food and water. Whether you're setting out on a small hike or a big one, your backpack should always be filled with energy bars, nuts, and jerky, to keep you energized. For lunch, you can pack light meals or sandwiches. As far as water is concerned, always carry two liters for each person. However, the quantity of water would vary depending on the weather conditions and the length of the hike.

Emergency and First Aids
Always make sure to carry emergency and first aid kits to give away damages. You should have a first aid kit with bandages, scissors, and all necessary medicines. Moreover, you should also carry lighter and matches along with firestarters to avoid any hassle that may come your way.

You may carry personal care items such as sunscreen, SPF-rated lip balm, and insect repellents. Furthermore, you should carry your sanitation towels as well.
