It might be 2013, but forced child marriages is still a thing that exists. And it doesn't just affect third world countries; statistics kept by the U.K's Foreign Office’s Forced Marriage Unit show that 72% of teenage girls there are being compelled by their families to marry a stranger. They are then flown to another country so that the union can take place.
According to Raw Story, one British charity has come up with an unconventional solution by advising kids being forced into arranged these marriages to fight back by sticking metal spoons in their underwear. When they try to pass through airport security, the metal objects hidden under their clothing will sound the alarm meaning they'll be taken away to a private screening area. This gives them chance to tell an authority figure if they were being shipped abroad to marry a stranger.
