According to Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, Executive Director of U.N. Women, social can indeed help stop violence against women. The topic was discussed during the the opening panel for the 2013 Social Good Summit, which was titled 'The Next 15 Years: How will technology, data and digital media shape our world?'

Mlambo-Ngcuka explained that how by using technology, everyone can make a difference by “tweeting about it, hosting conversations, fighting against those sites that abuse women.”

During the same panel, Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Mette-Marit of Norway stated that young people are aware of the social divide and are increasingly using social media as a platform to exchange ideas. "Young people want to be involved and really want to have their voice heard," she said.
