So this is what it looks like when aerial photography inspires interior decorating. This 'Consider This Landscape a Territory' project by Dutch designer Roosmarijn Pallandt casts Google Earth imagery into carpet form.

The photographs picked evoke the aerial landscapes of places like Portugal, Nepal, and Thailand, which also happen to be the places where the rugs are produced.  Only woven and knotted natural fibers and yarns were used, as they mimic the Earth's natural landscapes best.

Pallansdt is also collaborating on a new rug in Portugal and plans to expand her project to Peru, Japan, Mongolia, and parts of Africa in the future, eventually spanning all the continents.
