The Simpsons used its weekly chalkboard gag to pay tribute to Maria Wallace last night. Wallace is the voice artist behind Springfield Elementary's fourth grade teacher, Edna Krabappel.

The actress passed away from complications from pneumonia in late October. The showrunners had originally planned to re-air "Bart the Lover"  the Krabappel centric episode from 1992.

But since they were unable to proceed with their original plans, they instead had Bart celebrate her in the opening credits, writing out one sentence:
"WE'LL REALLY MISS YOU MRS. K."
Man that was a touching episode.
