Think no one is interested in BBM? Think again. The app released by BlackBerry has been downloaded way too many times than you can imagine.

According to the official BBM Twitter account (via 9to5Mac), more than 5 million people have downloaded BBM for iOS and Android in just eight hours after its release. BBM is now the No. 1 free app in the App Store.

9to5Mac mentions that the number of downloads could be much higher. BlackBerry only mentions that 5 million users have activated their BBM accounts, and because of the reservation system set in place by BlackBerry, the number could be higher.
