The FAA has finally given permission for airlines to allow passengers to use personal electronics for the entirety of their flights. That means you don't have to shut your phone down anymore.

The electronics ban started in 1991 when the FCC and FAA restricted airplane cellphone use. Now that we know more about it and how it doesn't affect the plane at all, the ban is being lifted.

Still, they recommend to keep your phone in airplane mode. You know, better safe than sorry. Plus there's no reception when you're so high up. [FAA]
