Thin is not only for gadgets these days. Now watch makers are making their timepieces elegantly thin too. Piaget has claimed the title of the 'world's thinnest mechanical watch' with its new Altiplano 38mm 900P that measures in at 3.65mm.

They snatched the title from Jaeger-LeCoultre by shaving off 0.4mm off the thickness from the previous record holder. They did so by cleverly building the mechanical movement in the actual watch's body.

Every single one of the Altiplano 38mm 900P's 145 components had to be manufactured with extreme levels of precision. When available, it will sell for $20,000 and $30,000. [Piaget via Hodinkee]
