Artist Balances A Sofa On One Leg Using Space Tech (Video)

I can't think of any way we'd use a sofa in that way, but to even see it balancing like that is almost magical. Artist Jacob Tonski's latest installation involves balancing a 19th century sofa on one leg. Someone call David Blaine to explain this one.
Tonski was able to pull it off by using a piece of tech called a reaction wheel.
The reaction wheel is used in satellites and other spacecraft to make automated adjustments to the craft's orientation in space without fuel or rockets. It s use would keep a space telescope precisely pointed at a spot in space. Reaction wheels are part of Hubble telescope's control system and is a motor driven flywheel that is constantly spinning. While spinning, the craft responds by counter rotating around its center of mass.
