For many of us, life has become much busier than it once was. Maybe now you have kids or you’ve just landed a job that you’ve always wanted. Whatever your reason for becoming busier, health is still of prime importance to all of us. Opting for a takeout after a long day at work, snacking on junk food throughout the day and choosing the couch over exercise are just some of the bad habits we tend to develop when things get a little hectic.

Eating healthily on the go can feel like a bit of a chore, nowhere offers healthy convenience food, right? Actually, it’s much simpler than you think.

If you have the time then planning out your week’s meals each weekend is a great way to ensure you eat healthily throughout the week. There are loads of quick and easy recipes online that are packed full of healthy ingredients. If you know you’ll be really pushed for time, consider making a couple of things in bulk at the weekend so that you can simply just heat it up when you get home. Healthy meals in 12 minutes or less will give you some great inspiration for breakfast, lunch and dinner. The pasta dishes are also great for taking into work the next day for lunch.



Sometimes after a long day you really don’t want to spend any time in the kitchen at all and if you’ve got nothing pre-made then often you turn to the trusty takeout. Although renowned for being the unhealthiest option, some dishes are actually healthier than you think - you just have to know which ones to choose. Sushi restaurants offer a wide range of dishes, some of which can be very good for you. Vegetable, salmon and rainbow rolls are low calorie and low fat, so paired with a nice miso soup will make a healthy and wholesome meal. Sashimi is usually served without rice, which makes it one of the healthiest takeout dishes available.

Even if you’ve got dinner sorted, most of our bad habits occur during the day while we’re at work. Instead of snacking on junk food, try and swap them for healthy snacks such as dried fruit, baked crisps or rice cakes. Not having any chocolate with you means you can’t eat it! So carry these around instead. If you do need to pop out at lunchtime, head to a supermarket salad bar where you’ll find an array of tasty and healthy salad combinations.



The most important thing to remember when you’re extremely busy is not to skip meals. Doing this sends a signal to the brain of food shortage and slows down your metabolism. No time for breakfast? You could always make a superfood smoothie the night before and store it in the fridge for drinking on the way to work or at your desk when you arrive. These are really simple to make and they’re packed full of key nutrients too. If you really can’t fit in your three meals a day, make sure you are snacking on healthy foods little and often to keep your body in good shape.
