Are you a complete beginner when it comes to fitness? Don’t worry; many people are in the same boat as you. Learning about fitness can be overwhelming, as it’s such a vast subject, but you can do it if you put your mind to it. This post will give you some tips on getting in the know as quickly as possible, so you can kickstart a fitness regime and change your life for good. Enjoy!

Understand the Science Behind it

Learning about fitness isn’t just learning what exercises to do, for what and when. You need to try to understand a bit of the science behind it. Once you actually understand the science behind certain training programs and regimes, you’ll be able to retain information much easier. You’ll also realise false information and rubbish programs when you see them. I suggest learning about the following subjects so you can do your absolute best:

You should be able to find the above topics and a plethora of other subjects online by doing a simple search. You should then realise why certain approaches to fitness work better than others. If you put the work in to learn the science, you’ll be able to get fit and stay that way as you’ll be confident in your knowledge and training.

Read Articles

Read articles on trustworthy fitness sites to help. Bear in mind that different people will have different opinions; even certified personal trainers! The best thing you can do is read articles that resonate with your goals. Different things work for different people, so you’re always going to find different opinions. The best thing to do is test out theories yourself to see what works for you. Just don’t do anything that isn’t sustainable (e.g. liquid dieting) or sounds unhealthy (e.g. cutting out carbs).

Read Books

There are plenty of fitness books on different subjects. Just bear in mind that anybody can write an e-book these days, so again, what you’re reading won’t necessarily work for you. However, it’s always good to get a different perspective on things.

Watch Videos

Finally, watching short videos can teach you all sorts. You can learn all about different forms of exercise and why they are effective, as well as the importance of proper form. Listening to fitness professionals share their knowledge is a great way to learn. You could even make notes on important points so you can look back later. You don’t need to pay for an expensive personal trainer or go on a course to learn all there is about fitness; simply watch some videos and you can do it much quicker and cheaper!

Remember, although you can learn about fitness fast, you can’t get fit as fast. That part takes time, patience, and effort. The sooner you start, the sooner you’ll reach your goals!
