Japan has a reputation for tiny commuter car designs. This new one however coming from South Korea offers another twist. It can retreat into a shell, like a turtle!

The electric-powered Armadillo-T  was developed by the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST). The idea was to reduce the amount of space used when a car is parked and not in use. The vehicle has a 13.6kWh battery and is able to travel up to 37 miles per hour with a 60 mile range on a single charge.

Designers replaced the fold out rear view mirrors with surround view cameras so that the car can fold. Check it out transforming into its armadillo-like incarnation in the video below.
