The reason why canned food exists is that the tin packaging helps to keep whatever is inside fresh and protected. But what happens if you don't have a can opener on you?
Not a problem, as survival expert and author Cody Lundi says you can just grind the can lid against a concrete form such as a parking stop to wear down the top of the can so that the lid is opened without spilling the food. Watch the demonstration via the clip below:
The trick here is to grind it back and forth until you see a bit of moisture on the concrete. That is the sign you've broken through the seal. Then just pick the can up and use any metal tool to finish prying the lid off.
