Steve Mahan might be blind, but that didn't stop him from taking Google's self-driving car for a test drive. Together with a Google employee in the passenger seat, Mahan decided that his first stop was to and grab some snacks at the local Taco Bell drivethrough.

Sounds like a scary idea, but the car is specially built for the job. The steering wheel turns automatically while radar and lasers fitted outside can check for cross-traffic to avoid collisions. A computer also helps in programming the route to each destination.  As for the amazing experience, Mahan describes it as such:
“This is some of the best driving I have ever done,”

“Where this would change my life is to give me the independence and the flexibility to go the places I both want to go and need to go,”
