Hannah McIntyre arrives at Englaind's
South Sefton Magistrates Court today

A teacher at a top private school today denied having sex with a pupil at her home.

Hannah McIntyre appeared in court this morning where she pleaded not guilty to a charge of sexually touching a 17-year-old male pupil.

The 25-year-old was suspended from her position as classics teacher at Crosby's Merchant Taylors' Boys' School in Merseyside in January.

The offence is alleged to have occurred on January 9 this year at her home.

Prosecutor Lyn Ingham said it was the Crown's case that 'sexual intercourse' took place.

The case was adjourned for committal to Crown Court on September 22.

Under UK legal system, although sixth-form students are above the age of consent, it is a criminal offence for teachers to engage in sexual activity with them because of the 'relationship of trust'.
