The can is dated back in 1935, according to WebUrbanist. With an illustration that resemble quirky art pre-WW II, American Can Co. began experimenting with this kind of beer can in 1931.

Krueger's Special Beer (above) was, however, the first commercially canned beer. The main issue at that time with canned beer was to create one that could hold up to the heat and pressure of pasteurization without bursting or leaking on the store shelves. And voila! Krueger's Special Beer can proved those concerns were unneccesary. Pabst was the first major brewer to offer beer in a can.
