Performance Artist Protests Animal Testing By Freaking Out Window Shoppers (Video)

A 24-year-old performance artist named Jacqueline Traide was brave enough to volunteer herself to undergo 10 hours of cosmetics testing torture behind the glass of a Lush Cosmetics window display, which is strategically located on one of Britain’s busiest streets. Warning: Disturbing images ahead.
The aim of the performance was to draw attention to the pain and cruelty inflicted on animals during lab tests for beauty products. Thousands of London passersby witnessed Jacqueline being roughly manhandled and administered to by a “lab technician.” Wearing only a flesh-colored body stocking, the sketch involved re-enacting widely used tests like injections, having her skin abraded before being smothered in lotions and potions. She then endured eye irritants and having a strip of her hair shaved off.
“I hope it will plant the seed of a new awareness in people to really start thinking about what they go out and buy and what goes into producing it,” Jacqueline tells the Daily Mail. You can learn more about the campaign here.
