Turns out the face is more important than the body when considering a long-term relationship to both men and women, says researchers.
Researchers showed male and female participants pictures of the opposite sex in rotating sets. Sometimes the participants saw just head shots, sometimes just body shots and sometimes both right next to each other.
After some complicated calculations, the results suggested that while each physical trait contributed to overall suitability for a long-term relationship, the face is actually more important to both men and women.
With men though, this was the opposite when they were asked to rate the pictures for a short-term relationship.
