Here's a nifty way to add a little zing to your drinks: replace ice cubes with frozen lemon or lime slices to chill your drink without watering them down.

This trick comes from a 1998 edition of Cuisine magazine (dug up by Gourmet Chef). To freeze the slices, place them in water using a cupcake baking sheet or a tray. Lay the lemon or lime slices flat and stick them in the freezer. They'll freeze perfectly well on their own.  These lemon/lime "ice cubes" are perfect for soda, iced tea, cocktails, beer or just plain water.
