According to a survey in 2001, about 15 percent of men admit to cheating on their wives or girlfriends, and women were not far behind with a 10-percent cheat rate. And although women have caught up with the times of cheating, the forgiveness chart still yields the same results - woman are more forgiving towards cheating men than vice versa.
When a woman cheats, it is a challenge to a man's manhood, but when a man cheats, it betrays a woman's dignity.
"Men can forgive themselves for their indiscretions but find it harder to forgive their partners for the same," therapist Phillip Hodson explained to the Daily Mail. Relationship counselor Paula Hall told the paper that husbands can't get over the fact that their wives had sex with another man. "For men, the sexual component of their wife's affair is important," Hall said. "Women are much more likely to ask: 'Did you love her?'"
