There was a recent auction in London, which auctioned off all these diamonds that a philandering husband gave his wife every time he cheated on her.

Every time Robert Charlton, a British businessman, had an affair, he bought his wife some extravagant jewelry to make up for it.

After 26 years of marriage, his wife Elizabeth had over 40 pieces of antique jewelry worth about 300,000 pounds, including a 54-diamond "riviere necklace" that brought in a lot when the couple's daughter auctioned off the guilt jewelry.

Charlton was apparently the owner of an underwear packing business and two night clubs - and his philandering was "an open secret" to family and friends, which really raises a lot of questions about pampering his wife with expensive gifts.
