Michelle Obama in Vogue

For the past three months, US Vogue has featured black women: the sign of a quiet revolution in the selfish, tough, image-conscious industry of fashion.It has always been said that the fashion industry has sided the Caucasian image of beauty, discriminating against black models.

That was until America's black first lady, Michelle Obama came into our lives, brazing the cover of Vogue in March, followed by Beyonce in April, and now black model Liya Kebede in May. The obsession with the fair-skinned has been pushed aside, setting a new place for "diversity".
