Fun Ways to Dramatically Change How You Look Without a Major Commitment

Whether you have a special occasion coming up, or you simply want to get noticed by making an eye-catching change to your appearance, there are lots of easy ways to do it. Of course, many of them require a certain degree of commitment – for example, getting a radically different haircut, or getting a new tattoo.
Others can take quite a lot of time to achieve, such as weight loss or changing your body shape with exercise. If you just want to experiment with something new, this is not ideal, so here are some fun, quick changes you can make that can be reversed either immediately, or within a short time.
Curl or Straighten Your Hair
If your hair is straight, try curls, if it is curly, iron it out, and if you have bouncy waves somewhere in between, go in either direction for a look that will get you noticed!
Straightening your hair is actually very simple, and you don't need a lot of skill to get a perfect look if you have a good set of straighteners. You can even buy straighteners that can be used on wet hair so you can dry and straighten at the same time. Good quality ceramic straighteners will get you the result you want very quickly, and so this is one of the fastest and easiest ways to experiment with a new look and turn some heads!
Curling your hair can require a bit more effort, although you can actually do it with straighteners, as counterintuitive as that may sound! You can also use curling irons or heated rollers. Use mousse or spray to keep your style for longer.
Try a Temporary Hair Color
This idea works best if you have naturally light or bleached hair, because temporary dyes tend not to show as well on darker hair. If you have a light base, however, you can try all kinds of things, from going a dramatic unnatural color like pink or blue, making a fashionable ombre or dip dyed effect, or simply trying out a darker hair color.
Temporary dyes only last through a few shampoos, so you don't have to commit to your new look, though you can always buy a semi permanent or permanent version of the same shade if you fall in love with your new look!
While options are more limited for darker hair, you can still try black, or if your hair is already black, consider tones like blue black, red black or violet black – the effect won't be as dramatic, however it can still give you a cool new look without using permanent dyes.
Try Clip In Hair Extensions
Whether you want your hair to look longer, thicker, or both, there is so much you can do with hair extensions, and cheap hair extensions are now quite easy to find online. You can buy extensions that are simply a clip on ponytail if you want to try a very long, glamorous up-do, or you can clip extensions in in sections to give the look of long natural hair.
If your extensions are made of real hair, you can also dye and style them in the same way as you can your own hair, so you can try curling, straightening and using temporary dyes on them to amplify the effect of the other things we have suggested. You can also get extensions intended to add streaks of bold color.
Hair extensions are best if you buy some that are as close as possible to how you wear your hair normally in terms of color and curl, and you can consider ordering custom ones if you have an unusual color or an effect like an ombre you want your extensions to share without having to style or dye them yourself.
Get a Fake Tan
Another way to change how you look is to try a fake tan. This will last a week or so depending on the product you use. If you aren't experienced at putting on fake tan, it can be better to go to a salon for it, especially if you are hoping to look different for a special occasion. However, if you do decide to go it alone, make sure you exfoliate and moisturize first – especially on problem areas like ankles, knees and elbows where dry skin can make for orange patches.
These are just a few fun ways to try a new look without having to keep it for longer than you may want!
