If it ain’t broke don’t fix it...very wise words. Day 3 of Milan Fashion Week and Burberry has maintained that quintessentially British quirkiness that we all know and love.
The collection, entitled ‘Garden Girls’ was an earthy mix of greens, browns and greys. But drab? Certainly not. The pieces were accessorized with statement jewellery and sizeable bags while almost every look was finished off with a floppy hat, almost obscuring the models faces. So much so we almost didn’t notice Aggy!
The classic trench was ever present with a Spring 09’ update of dip dye detail and metallics – In fact the dip dye was a common theme with trousers and capes graduating from a beige into a muddy brown. And the metallic and sequin detailing makes sure that you don’t look like you’ve just stepped out of a mud bath. Which wouldn’t be a good look.
Another collection which stuck to an ever successful formula was Missoni. While the knitted designs, which literally scream Missoni, were featured on a majority of the clothing, it was the shapes and cuts that had us hooked. From long, flowing dresses to the more structured coat and shirt dresses right up to the wide leg trousers, there was a look for everybody. We’re loving the waisted belts too.
A worrying look for those of us who aren’t buying into the whole skinny trend is the sudden love for all things transparent. At C’N’C Costume National, models wore a band of material under almost completely transparent creations, while Giorgio Armani teamed a tiny band of material with transparent trousers.Though something we really would love please is one of the gorgeous Byblos dresses. So feminine and floaty – simply stunning .We loved the gorgeous pleated white dress most of all.
We’ve always loved a nautical theme, so D&G’s collection was like music to our ears. It may be Dolce and Gabbana’s lower priced fusion line, but there is certainly nothing budget about it. Navy and white and red and white are always a winning combination and they totally worked on the chic oversized dresses, voluminous trousers and cute bonnets. While we were debating whether the collection was very French or very nautical, the bold anchor print confirmed the latter. It did however, possess that certain French charm, which has got us all very excited for next weeks stop in Paris! We loved the the demure swimsuit which was perfectly juxtaposed with the fishnet tights and platform shoes making neither look too extreme.
Just in case that wasn’t your look (but frankly what’s not to love?) D & G also did us proud with their interpretation of some of the other big trends. Namely, metallics and bows, two looks we’ve seen all over the catwalks. Note their super glamorous gold metallic jackets with huge bows – we like.
Big Bows were a main look at Moschino’s show on Tuesday, along with bright contrasting colours, bug ruffles and harlequin print. Very bold, statement pieces and a lot of fun. The models dressed in head to toe colour did remind us slightly of a Barbie Doll. But there were some more demure outfits including some delightfully ruffled, beautifully cut LBDs. Lastly Prada’s show was one of the hottest tickets in town. The pieces were feminine and sexy and we expected no less!
There was a hint of flesh in almost all creations, be it a flash of (washboard) stomach or a thigh high split, but it was as far removed from trashy as possible. There were a lot of muted colours and black teamed with some very cool graphic prints and the crumpled fabrics were effortlessly chic. This is sexy in a classy way – Jodie Marsh take note.
When it comes to tableware, we could see that most of the people are handling over the products based on the prices and styles which are involved in it. Well, it is such a common thing where we can witness among most of the people. Read more
