Astronomers have found the best place on Earth for astronomical observation which so happens to be the worst place that humans can go. So instead of sending real people, they'll send in robots.

Ridge A, is the spot in Antartica which provides the clearest of views of the sky. Scientists will use what the knowledge gained to set up anotehr bot operated observatory station here.

The simple observatory is, in the words of University of Arizona astronomer Craig Kulesa, a steel shipping container that scientists "cut in half and insulated the crap out of."

What's more is that the savings on this will be astronomical too. What costed thousands will now cost 10 bucks!

This means a lot for research as funding can be channeled into other activities. Robots too. Maybe they'll make them kiss if they're bored.
