The WSJ says that Steve Jobs had already killed the Apple Tablet twice in recent years. But why?

Apparently, the first he killed it was because of the bad battery life and the second time was insufficient memory. Does this mean that Apple has been working on a tablet all this while? And knowing this, does this mean the Apple tablet will have a sustainably long battery life with sufficient memory? Its definitely promising.

WSJ also says that since Jobs came back from medical leave, he has been heavily involved in the development as well as the strategy for marketing and advertising as well. Since Steve is the uber micro manager of all micro managers, we're not surprised.
