Device Detects Up to 14 Different Sweeteners in Foods

Scientists have produced a small handheld sensor which is able to indicate what type of sweetener is in either a food or a drink in 2 minutes.
The sensor uses colour-coded dots that tells us what sweeteners are used in a product and how sweet it is. It is able to differentiate among 14 kinds of sweeteners, from natural sugars to artifical products.
Scientists are hoping to find ways of measuring the other four basic tastes:- salty, sour, bitter and umami (Also known as richness or meatiness).
