SuperCook Turns Your Kitchen Contents into Yummy Recipes
May 21, 2009 14:34
It's cheaper and healthier to eat in, but all too easy to look in the fridge and think you have nothing to make. SuperCook tells you what you can make with what you have.
We've covered this territory before, with sites like Cooking by Numbers, but SuperCook notably expands on the concept. SuperCook allows you to enter in the contents of your kitchen—it assumes you have basics like salt and pepper—and then cranks out a list of potential recipes you can make using just what you have or with the addition of another item. There are recipes for starters, entrées, and desserts. You can have SuperCook focus on a particular item in your list—so if you're hungry for a chicken dish, you can click on chicken on the list and SuperCook will show recipes featuring chicken first.
How SuperCook goes beyond just telling you what you can make is with its generated shopping lists. If you've got 80% of what you need for a meal, your list taps into what you need to cook and save what you have.
Check out the video below for a look at more of SuperCook's features:
SuperCook is a free service with no sign up required. Signing up for a free account however does allow you to save your list for future recipe searches. If you have your own trick for determining what you can make with the food you have on hand, sound off in the comments below.
