The Recycled Tissue and Toilet Paper Guide by Greenpeace is now available on the iPhone as an application that could be downloaded directly on the handset. Tissue paper of various brands were examined and graded according to a handful of standards set by the organization: 100 percent recycled material content, at least 50 percent of post-consumer material content and the non-usage of chlorine and chlorine compounds during the whitening process.
"Customers who download the iPhone or Android version of the Greenpeace Recycled Tissue and Toilet Paper Guide can compare brands available at their local grocery store to find which brands are most environmentally sustainable," says Greenpeace Forest Campaigner Lindsey Allen.
In the paper guide, tissue brands are listed and marked "Recommended," "Avoid," or "They Can Do Better," depending on how they did during testing. For those who pay attention to detail, the data gathered pertaining to the three standards listed above is also available for perusal in the iPhone app. This particular release isn't the only mobile version of the guide - there's also one for the Android and one for WAP-enabled phones.
